The game was a tremendous success. Millions of people participated. Someday, we hope to put a description of the event and the clues online here. Meanwhile, we have some photos!
In the weeks before the game, we announced the rules and said something mildly cryptic about the theme.
We had a Pizza Party after the Road Rally at Pizza Chicago in Palo Alto on El Camino. Check out their web site for more details and a menu. (We took pre-orders in the morning, so people psyched up their tastebuds early.)
10:00am - 8:00pm, 26 July 1997.
"But what is a road rally?" we hear you cry. In this case, it's a series of mind bending clues leading you in a zany race around the area to reach The Goal first.
"What goal?"
That would be telling.
"What do I have to do to take part in this crazy event?"
You can't. It's over. But we do have some leftover clues and we may
run this one a second time, so let us know if you want to play in
the syndicated showing.
"How many people can be on a team?"
As many as you want to cram into the single vehicle you'll all be
driving around in. (Remember that you can fit more if you grind them
up first.)
It started at Seth's House (2F+Palo+Alto%2C+CA++94306-3048&W=375&H=550&IC=37.42721%3A-122.1181%3Atent%3A3364+Middlefield&SP=&LC=&MAP.x=169&MAP.y=345">3364 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto) at 10:30, only 30 minutes late. Some people arrived plenty early, but a few losers wandered in at 10:25.
In the weeks leading up to the great event, we sent updates on an irregular basis, providing crucial information and tasty recipes involving frogs. One helpful update included a list of things to bring.
