Chris' Songs - Frosty the Snowman (arr)

Yeah, the Christmas classic, but not the way you've heard it before. This is a funky Frosty, starting with a cool minor-key bassline and vocal percussion (as performed by MACH 1), and with lots of soul and samples of other songs chimed in by the backup singers.

Frosty the Snowman (arr)

Frosty the Snowman
(ooh Frosty)
Was a jolly happy soul
(I'm a soul man)
From the Blues Brothers' "Soul Man"
With a corn cob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of snow
(ooh private eyes)
From Hall & Oates' "Private Eyes"

Frosty the Snowman
(ooh Frosty)
Was a fairy tale they say
(say, say, say)
From Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's "Say, Say Say"
He was made of snow but the children know
How he came to life one day
(back to life)
From "Back to Life"

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat he wore
(Why do you say that?)
'Cause when they put it on his head
He began to jump around
(jump around, jump around)
From ?

Frosty the Snowman
(ooh Frosty)
Was alive as he could be
(stayin' alive, stayin' alive)
From you-know-what
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me
(I wanna be just like you)
From Robbie Nevil's "Just Like You"

Frosty the Snowman knew the sun was hot that day
So he said "Let's run and we'll have some fun now
Before I melt away"
Down to the village with a broomstick in his hand
Runnin' hear and there all around the square
Sayin' "Catch me if you can!"

He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
(Officer Krupke)
From Berstein and Sondheim's _West Side Story_
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler "Stop!"
(stop in the name of love)
From that Supremes song

Frosty the Snowman
(ooh Frosty)
Had to hurry on his way
(you can't hurry love)
From the Supremes and Phil Collins' "You Can't Hurry Love"
So he waved goodbye, sayin' "Don't you cry
I'll be back again someday"
(what a man, what a man, what a man, what a Frost!)
From En Vogue

It was a lot of fun to sing (as you can guess), and even more fun to perform for an audience. The 3rd and 4th verses I made doubletime to shmush them into one verse, since this brings some variety, shortens the length of an already long song, fixes what I consider to be a songwriting error, and makes sense with the desperate words.
